It has been forever since I have written anything. First things first. Lets play catch up: {this will be a long one}
Over the past few years, I have been bettering myself, so that I can be happy with who I am as person to myself and to my loved ones. My life changed when I was in a car accident during my freshmen year of college. (I totaled my car by getting pushed off the interstate by an 18 wheeler and then flipping my car 3 times; it was something out of a movie. I landed upside down.) The second thing that really changed my life was doing Semester at Sea; which i traveled the world on a cruise ship taking class between the visits of some of the worlds poorest countries. Seeing how poor some people in this world are made me appreciate my life and how fortunate I am for having the things I have.
Recently, December 25, 2010, my family and I served a hot meal to some of the homeless of New Orleans at the New Orleans Mission (we even made the news). Thank you Jeff for sharing this with me. Thank you for finding out about serving the homeless. For me, it is so rewarding to be able to help those less fortunate. Isn't that what Christmas is all about. It is better to give than receive.
Last year's New Years Resolution was to get healthier. Since April of 2010 i have lost about 25 pounds. Don't get me wrong, that is a lot of weight, but I wish I could lose weight a little bit fast, but I have a very slow metabolism. I have tried countless diets over the years with little success. This time using the Weight Watchers plan, I am getting some success. I think this is working because I am doing this for me and not for anyone else. I want to be healthier. I am not trying to lose weight for anyone but myself; it is not for a wedding or other things people typically lose weight for.
Lately, I have seen a little bit of jealousy from people who have seen their loved ones lose large amounts of weight. I have never been a jealous person. For those of you who are jealous, instead of complaining or being jealous, why don't you do something about it.
2011
This year by New Year's Resolution has been to get a little more healthy and to exercise. on Jan 3, 2011, I started my new plan. Weight Watchers started a new plan, which i hope works. Secondly, I started taking Zumba classes at the Y in Houma, LA. Zumba is one of most entertaining fun exercise classes I have every taken. After 2 days of doing Zumba, I feel like I have been hit by a dump truck. I sure hope it is all worth it.
